A Washington man is lucky to be alive today, much less alive and virtually unharmed, after being involved in a commercial truck accident in Oregon that involved over twenty vehicles. Authorities believe that the accident was initially caused when two big rigs jackknifed on black ice and crashed into each other. This caused a chain reaction leading to a pile-up of twenty-six vehicles.
One of the vehicles involved was a truck driven by Kaleb Whitby. His truck was sandwiched and completely smashed between two commercial trucks, but somehow he managed to make it out of the accident with hardly a scratch on his body. In fact, he apparently only needed ice and some bandaids for his injuries.
Other drivers were not to lucky. Sixteen people went to the hospital with injuries, four of whom are said to have had more serious injuries. Luckily, there were no fatalities in this accident. That unfortunately cannot be said of other recent commercial truck accidents.
Texas Commercial Truck Accident Claims Five Lives
On January 15, five men lost their lives when their vehicle collided with an oil tanker. The truck had flipped on its side when their vehicle crashed into it and was then engulfed in flames.
The accident occurred in the Eagle Ford Shale area in southern Texas. With the recent discovery of tremendous amounts of crude oil in the region, there has been a surge of industry activity in the area. However, the downside to the boom the area has enjoyed is the increased commercial truck traffic on rural roads meant for farming vehicles and light trucks, which has caused a rise in the number of motor vehicle accidents.
